Tuesday, April 13th, 2010—Bar 93
Day 93—Monday, April 12th
Bar XIIFirst off, I need to announce that starting this week, the 365 Bar Crawl is going to hit the road soon! I’m going to Cleveland Friday and Saturday and hope to hook up with the Minister of Culture, Michael Heaton. And then the next week I’ll be in Peoria for five days and then off to Chicago for two more! And of course I’ll be posting about bars the entire way.
And now on to tonight. I’m really tired tonight, so I looked for a bar nearby where I work. I found a bar called Bar XII, which looked interesting. So let’s go before I fall asleep.
Here we are, Bar XII, that's Bar 12 for you Roman Numeral challenged folks.
Since it's Monday night, it's a little quiet in here, plenty of places to sit at the bar.
And Alex the bartender is quick with a cold bottle of beer.
And speaking of bottled beer, here's a list of them. A long list!
Uh, oh, a crowd has gathered at a back booth, let's check it out.
They've all gotten together for Amy's 21st birthday. Here's Amy (I think this is Amy, it was so many people I was a little confused when I got home to I.D. the photos. So if I'm wrong, well, let's just pretend I'm right. Happy birthday Amy!)
If you're a fan of draft beer, you'll love this place.
And all of the draft beer taps have these little TV's on them so you don't miss a minute of action while your beer is being poured.
In addition to the little TV's there's 20 big screen plasma screens as well.
There's another bar in the back with even more draft beer available.
Kellene, Julie and Josh were enjoying the bar and the birthday party for Amy.
On Sunday's you can cure your weekend hangover with their Soak It Up Sunday Party Brunch. All you can drink for 20 bucks, an instant hangover cure!
I forgot to get a picture taken in the bar, so I took a "Goodnight" video in the cab ride home.
The cabbie saw me filming and wanted to share this story with all of you. Goodnight everybody!
Review
Combining a lounge atmosphere with a sports bar sounds like a strange mix, but at Bar XII it actually works. There’s a large bar in front with red lighting, candle lit tables and another bar in the back. There’s 20 plasma TV screens to enjoy the games and for those of you that don’t want to let your eyeballs stray too far from the bar, there’s five inch beer-tap mounted TV screens for you to watch as your favorite beer is being poured.
There’s 13 bottled beers and 20 styles of draft brew available along with a full bar. There’s also a menu featuring all your favorite sport food including: wings, sliders, chili cheese fries and a variety of eight ounce burgers. There’s also some surprises to found such as: coconut chicken, pasta bolognaise and six different varieties of bruschetta. The hour Happy Hour runs from noon to 8 pm Monday- Friday, with Bud, Bud Light and Coors Light drafts for four dollars and five buck well drinks. And every night there’s a new event happening, check the calendar on the website below.
On the weekends the clubs lounge atmosphere comes alive with DJ’s spinning music and baseball caps are traded in for dancing shoes. And check out Sunday’s Party Brunch, I particularly like the Walk of Shame Burger. If you’ve got egg on your face from the night before, you can order it on your burger, eat it and start all over.

First!
I cant figure out the egg on the burger thing. We used to go to a all night burger place after we all got off work in sf and they would eat those and i got sick looking at it. just one delicasy i just dont get.
might be the fact that eggs are just gross anyway.
I like the name of the burger though.wish you had gone there the day after your eye incedent and ordered it!
and although filled with too many young people seams like a nice bar:) with good beer and cider choices.
I am sure you are waiting for someone to notice how Roman Numeral Challenged you are "pretending" to be...or maybe it is being "keyboard challenged" that ails you. Regardless, the TWELVE BAR looks like a good time! :")
@Kim: Whoops, that's what I get for posting this half-asleep! I think I corrected all the mistakes, thanks for the copy edit check!
Wait a SECOND! "All you can drink for 20 bucks" on Sundays? Sign Me Up Please!!
I'm with Meleah! What a great Sunday hangover joint!
love the walk of shame burger!
Nice TV taps! Makes me feel like I'm on an airplane! Bar XII looks well-used. With all those great draft beers, I'll bet they're usually packed. And the food looks pretty good too, although I'm with Gidget on the egg burger. I know of a place that serves a burger with an egg AND fried salami on it, called the Pauly Burger. I don't know who Pauly is, but I'll bet he's really, really fat.
Bifferoonie, you just made me think of Pauly Shore, please don't do that again!
I noticed there's a bottled beer on that list called; 'Delerium Tremens'...I can think of more than a few hillbilly reprobate passengers that used to be regulars in my cab that would go for that one. Speaking of cab stories, that cabbie's story about the illegal u-turn sounds a little like the sub-chapter in my own book 'Two Fisted Cab Driving Tales' called; 'The Country Drunk...a Tale of Poor Toilet Training', only my story was better, if I do say so myself!
Biff we need to go to a place that serves egg burgers and make puffy cheek faces at them...Just cause that seams fun and i really am bitch in real life and would do that!
doesnt matter that i'm chubby.. i'm not a fat, egg, and salami on burger eating wierdo LOL...
Is the bartender giving you the finger??????
Yeah the bartender's finger is one of the first thing I noticed !! ;)
Ha ha ha! I saw that too and I'm sure it's not intentional. Alex was a super nice guy.
We can pull a Belushi a la Animal House. "Guess what I am now?"
Looks like a passive/agressive kind of flip off to me, Marty. Alex probably wasn't even aware he was doing it.
Marty I love your friend Biff, can I have her?
Soon your going to have Taxi Driver Confession Video collection & maybe after your 365 days of beer will turn into that .
That I would like to see !!!
TO : Taxi Driver Confession
That is a great looking bar and it looks like such fun!
I am looking forward to your tour,
